Regional Bargaining Report #40

Friday, November 6, 2015

CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 and IBEW New England Regional Committees met this week at the Rye Town Hilton in Westchester.

The Company passed a new Comprehensive proposal which contained modified proposals on Healthcare, Tuition Assistance, Work & Family Funding and Family Care Leave. While the Company may have modified its proposal in these areas, each of these items still represents significant retrogression.

You have probably seen Marc Reed’s latest e mail to employees where he stated that the Company has increased their wage proposal by ½ percent over 3 years.

The current proposal is 2.5% after ratification, 2% in the 2nd year and 0% in the last year.

Here are some other items that Verizon still has on the table:

  • Elimination of Job Security

·         Thousands of dollars in increased health care costs to actives and retirees

·         Forcing you to choose between a Defined Benefit pension that will be frozen at 30 years, or an enhanced 401(k) plan

·         Elimination of Accident Disability

·         Elimination of COLA

·         Increased Contracting

·         Major changes to the Tuition Assistance Plan

·         And more…

After receiving the proposal from the Company, your bargaining Committee thoroughly reviewed it and is in the process of developing counter proposals.

This Greedy Corporation is seeking to gut our contracts.
We stand united to fight them.
