Verizon Bargaining Report #18

CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 and IBEW New England Regional Bargaining Committees met with the Company today at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye, New York.

This morning we met with the Company and rejected numerous sections of the Company’s proposal, including Job Security, Pensions, Force Adjustment Plan changes and more.

We also reminded the Company that they have not yet responded to a single Union Proposal at the Regional Table. We told them we need our issues addressed.

The Union also raised questions about the safety performance of the contractors who are working on poles in Suffolk County. At this point the Company has not provided answers regarding the issues that were raised by the Union.

All members should be aware of Verizon’s safety creed:

“The demands of the service or the urgency of the job are never so great that we cannot take time to perform our work safely”

This afternoon we met with the Company’s “subject matter expert” on Call Sharing. He explained that the Company’s proposal would allow them to contract out 100% of the work that is in the call share agreement (Reps, FSCs, EVRCs)

They claim it is not their intention to do so, but they want the flexibility to do whatever the hell they want.

The Company needs to get serious and begin bargaining with your Union. The clock is ticking and time is running out.

Reminder...Every member is expected to attend the Rally on Saturday July 25, at 140 West Street at 11 am.
