New Contract and Election

I would like to start by congratulating the Graduate Student Union for overwhelmingly approving their contract.  At Local 1104 we represent thousands of graduate students at the four university centers, Stony Brook, Binghamton, Buffalo and Albany, as well at the state colleges.  For the next three years our grad students will have a fair contract so that they can worry about their research and learning rather then the status of their contract.

I would also like to bring your attention to the upcoming Business Agent election.  We have an opening in Construction and Real Estate and petitioning for the position will begin on March 20th.  If you are interested in running for the position, please pick up your petitions on March 20th.

Finally, we will be having a union meeting tonight, Tuesday, March 7th at 6 PM.  It is important that all of the members of our union show up to our meetings.  Our union is a democratic one and the union meeting is when important decisions are made.  These decisions are made and influenced by those who come to the meetings.  I hope to see all of you there.
