Labor Day is a day set aside not just for all workers across the United States but more directly union workers. Let's face it, if you're not union you're not getting the day off anyway. It's a union holiday brought to you by your union and the tens of thousands before us who have made so many sacrifices for the things we take for granted everyday. So on this sacred weekend we should reflect on those who have come before us and what they have done to make our country a better place to live and work. We should also remember the great friendships we have amassed on the job, friendships that will last a lifetime. Labor Day is a day to remember family and friends as well, since quality time at home with the family is one of labor's greatest principles. So while your hanging around the barbecue reflect on those who are not with us and honor our troops serving overseas and stateside. This year will be a day to think about what our future holds and what the next contract will bring. You might even have to ask the question - will I be celebrating Labor Day at a BBQ next year or walking a picket line? We have given you some food for thought and I hope that all of our members have a joyous day and a good financial year. Enjoy Labor Day Local 1104 and remember that life isn't a destination, it's a journey.
